History  Of  Java

→ Java was developed by James Gosling, Patrick Naughton and their team(also known as Green Team) at Sun Microsystems, Inc. in 1991.

→ The language was initially called Oak after an oak tree that stood outside Gosling's office. Later the project went by the name Green and was finally renamed Java,    from Java coffee. Gosling designed Java with a C/C++-style syntax that system and application programmers would find familiar.

Difference between java & CPP(C++)

→ Why Oak? Oak is a symbol of strength and chosen as a national tree of many countries like U.S.A., France, Germany, Romania etc.

→ In 1995, Oak was renamed as "Java" because it was already a trademark of Oak Technologies.

→ The First publication of Java 1.0 was released by Sun Microsystems in 1995. It made the promise of "Write Once, Run Anywhere", with free runtimes on popular platforms.

 → There are many java versions that have been released. Current stable release of Java is Java SE 8.
